3-sheet laid mould with painted deckle.
The painting of the deckle seems to serve little purpose although maybe this is to reduce the amount of fibre adhering to the deckle which would then go back into the vat and form knots in the sheets of paper. Note that there are no brass reinforcement over the deckle. These usually are on the short sides where the deckle is gripped by the vatman.
