In 2016, I was lucky enough to be invited to speak at various venues in the USA and titled my talk, rather loosely, a Personal View of Paper History. I have deliberately wandered off the straight chronology to include some of my own experiences at Hayle Mill, in India and Bhutan and other locations. The tour was organised by Professor Timothy Barrett, who is the Director of the Center for the Book, University of Iowa to whom I am most grateful.
One of the most attractive and interesting venues was the historic Alta Club in Salt Lake City which co-hosted the talk with the University of Utah Marriott Library. Randy Silverman, Head of Preservation at the Marriott Library made all the arrangements and also gave me a lot of advice on planning my driving route within Utah. I would like to thank him and his colleagues and the members and staff at the Alta Club for all their kindness and hospitality.
Randy also invited Nate Vineyard to video the talk and following question and answer session and you can view this at https://vimeo.com/187764488
