This is one of the most beautiful sets of watermarks in the collection. It features Turkish script - wire and embossing. “Ottoman Turkish language" was a variety of Turkish, highly influenced by Persian and Arabic. The Ottomans had three influential languages, Turkish, Persian, Arabic but they did not have a parallel status” (Wikipedia). I have the original artwork (signed as approved in 1865) and the sole known example of the paper in a pale pink has been found from this mould.
From this artwork was made the engraved brass plate for debossing the woven wire cover of the mould.
Here is some closing detail. The machine marks are very clear but the exact technique is unknown.

And here is the end result - the watermark in the paper. This must have been a trial as there is no indication the paper went into production.
